Gluten-free flour blend calculator: grams per flour
Choose blend A or blend B, type how many grams of finished blend you want, and the calculator scales the ratios from the gluten-free flour blends guide to the weight of each flour and starch. It uses the same figures as that guide, so the two always agree.
How to use the calculator
- Pick blend A for cakes, cupcakes and pancakes, or blend B for muffins, quick breads and brownies.
- Type the total weight of blend you want, from 50 g to 20000 g. The grams for each flour and starch appear straight away.
- Weigh each ingredient into a large bowl and whisk for about two minutes, or sift twice, until the colour is even.
Everything runs in your browser. Nothing you type is sent anywhere.
Before you rely on the amounts
- Use finely milled white rice flour in blend A, because coarse rice flour tastes gritty.
- The blends do not include xanthan gum. The gluten-free flour blends guide gives the amounts to add for cookies, cakes and bread.
- Check the labels on your flours and starches, and choose products labelled gluten-free if you have coeliac disease.
What this tool is based on
- The ingredient shares are the two starting blends from the gluten-free flour blends guide, which are our own arrangement of the common 60 to 70 percent flour and 30 to 40 percent starch pattern. They are not results from our own test baking.
- The calculator only scales those shares to the total weight you enter, and rounds to one decimal place of a gram.
